Thanks, Grover. I have to give props to my friend (and one of a total of 5 of us who were on the trip) who suggested I walk over to that edge of the observation deck for this angle with the flowers.
My grandparents land is a short distance away from here. We can actually see the Observatorys' support poles from there in El Barrio Esperanza. I love that a large part of my family history is tied to this beautiful part of the Carribean, of Puerto Rico. I go there as aften as possible as I am in the USA. I go to get away from it all, drink the fresh water from el poso, eat of the fresh fruit and just feel like I'mm in my own world. This picture is beautiful. It capture both the old and new worlds of Puerto Rico without losing it's beauty. Great Job
When I was in 10th grade my class had a trip to the observatory. It was fenaminal, and to be able to see it from distant lands on a computer brings back wonder emotions and memories. I'm so glad for technology. And that the Observatory is still around.
Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!

Bridgette - you're from Puerto Rico and you don't know what this is? That's pretty surprising.
It's the upper array portion of the Arecibo radio telescope one of the (if not _the_) largest radio telescopes in the world.
About Arecibo, is also known as "La Villa del Capitan Correa" There is a site Known as "La cueva del Indio" if my memory is correct, will like to see a picture. I do enjoy your pictures of all my good old Puerto Rico and for that I thank YOU. and thank u again.
It's beautiful, I love my Island when I visit my family I always cry when it's time to leave and come back to NY my second home because when I'm there the feeling is so right. I actually belong, to bad my life is here filled of noise and pollution...

it's very beautiful i'd never seen something like this.thank you.
Thank you, this is a wonderful photo! It captures both the earthly setting of the radio telescope and the magic of the connection between Arecibo and Space. I was born on Puerto Rico and as my airplane flights have landed there my eyes have welled up with big tears spontaneously - all three visits - and I spent my birthday at the observatory in 2004.
