My best ever visit to these mountains was back in the mid-60s when I went with one of the members of our Climbing Club and stayed in a Barn-type refurbished small stone cottage at the remote Blea Tarn in Little Langdale. We had a coup;le of days of beautiful walking and evenings in the pub which wasn't too far further on up the track. I'd taken my guitar and so the beer flowed steadily, the wind (and rain) blew away the cobwebbed hangover the next day. My climbing companion's name was Hank -and he'd climbed in Iran -RAF Mountain Rescue. Utterly memorable.
