Keyboard Shortcuts
You forgot (I think) one of my favorite shortcuts.
Option Key
To immediately hide the active application, hold down the <option> key while clicking on the desktop. This comes in handy when you have a few applications hogging up the desktop real estate.

Glowing Edges Article in ATPM 4.05
Great article about creating glowing edges in Photoshop.
Another method would be to simply download the collections of Photoshop actions at
<http://www.elated.com> and install them into Photoshop. There are a plethora of other awesome effects included in the collections.
