Favorite Fonts
Back in ATPM 5.11, we had an issue all about fonts. So, logically, we asked our staff members what their favorite shareware fonts were. Here the summary:
Brooke Smith (Who is Really into Canadian Fonts)
- Robotic Attack Fonts, especially: “Girls Are Weird”, “Kathleeniefont” and “Horse.”

Nu Sans, by Marty Pfeiffer
If you like Apple’s Espy Sans, this is your font! Worth the $12 shareware fee, as it looks just as good on paper as it does on screen. I use this font for reading e-mail in Claris Emailer.

Rosie, by Sean Cavanaugh, the author of Digital Type Design Guide, The Page Designer’s Guide to Working with Type.
This is a great replacement for Geneva. Use it as your system’s small font, for icon names and such. I’ve even used it as my main font for Web surfing, though any point size beyond 10 or 12 is going to suffer. - Skia, by Apple. There is currently no URL for this font, as far as I know. The last place I saw it available was a System 7.5 CD. Imagine my pleasant surprise to find it on the final candidate disk image for OS 9 we’re testing where I work!

Jeni’s fonts
Especially the one called “jeni”, which is about the only script font I’ve ever not loathed, let alone actually liked... - I also very much like, and often use, the Junius fonts in the
Old English Font Pack
Junius Rough makes amazing headers, and Junius Standard just plain looks good.
David Ozab
Personally, I’m not a big font hoarder. Times, Courier, and Palatino are my text fonts of choice, and Finale’s new Maestro font is a long overdue replacement for Petrucci. There are other options for those of you who want to give your printed music a different look. Rather than listing them all here, though, I will refer you to an extensive list that I found on the Web at RPM Seattle.
