Wonderful site. It was great for the picture I needed. One thing is you might want to have it so that the large picture is in two parts. This is because the printers will only print one page with a half of the picture.

Mwanzaa, thanks for your comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. Splitting up a picture the way you describe is a practice I've never heard of before. I can only think of it as a detriment rather than a help. The problem you are having is that the software you are using to print the picture will either only print at 100% size, or is currently set to do so even though it has other options. If you are printing from your web browser, I can see how the picture is being split up across pages. I would recommend saving the picture to your hard drive and opening it in another program such as GraphicConverter or whatever your favorite image viewing utility is. These other programs likely have an option to either rescale the photo or, better yet, simply offer a "Fit to Page" option in the Print menu.

I totally love your site. It's full of fun and interesting facts. Thanks. I love you. Chelsea :)
These are beautiful pictures. I wish you had them in different sizes like some other wallpaper web pages. Many of them offer 2 or 3 sizes. I need a smaller picture. Do you think you can do it? Especially the okapi photo.
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · December 7, 2001 - 00:56 EST#5
Hi Anna. Since I'm not an ATPM editor, I'm not saying this authoritatively. However, I feel quite safe in suggesting that the reason we don't bother with multiple sizes is because practically every method we advocate for displaying them on your desktop will automatically reduce them. Simply use either the Fit to Screen or Position Automatically settings. And while we don't get involved with Windows-related functions, I do know the same response applies. If, for whatever reason, you still absolutely need a smaller version, e-mail me which photos and what size you desire, and I will send them to you. (I hope I don't start a precedent here! ;-)
Very beautiful pictures. Did you take them? The giraffe picture is great. Hopefully you'll get more animal pictures posted to this site!

Hi Kia. Yes, I sure did take the photos in this month's series. While I don't make regularly scheduled trips for photo sessions, I can, however, assure that if I ever am in a place (with a camera at the ready) where there are more animals, I'll be sure to snap some new photos.
Your photos are phenomenal. They are so clear and it's really neat how if you click on the picture, it gets full size. Like I said, the pictures are beautiful!!
Thanks! That's the best picture of an okapi I've seen yet! I LOVE okapis. They are so cute. Thanks for putting the web site up because you can never get any good pictures of my favorite animal.

Charlotte - glad you like the photo. Here's another you might like.
I think the okapi is really cool. This is the best site of okapi photos I've found. I think that we should have more interesting breeds of animals like this. The okapi is especially cool because it shows the zebra and giraffe side.
The okapi is the greatest animal alive!!! I love the fact that it is so shy and that when it gets done mating they do not socialize any more!!! It's because they are afraid of commitment right? I don't know, but I don't care...I've decided to base my life on the social patterns of the okapi. Thank you so very much for your help in getting me to where I am today Mr. Okapi!!! I LOVE YOU! In fact if I were able to change into any type of animal...I would be an okapi. So very interesting. Love love love. --Deborah
We would like to no how this animal...the Okapi is in danger or is rare. Yes it is nice to no about his life..but could you tell us how he is protected and discovered as an animal in danger?
I believe that the Okapi is a very interesting creature-- so graceful and dignified, but shy... I think it's cool how the Okapi shows the trend of cross-species breeding and furthering evolutionary traits... Maybe they're a mix of quagga and Wild African calf/deer. They really don't look much like they have giraffe blood in them, and their size and necks could be from the calves/deer.
i love the okapi. in my class i am doing a report on it and all my classmates think it is very weird, but i love it and i hope it won't become extinct.oh also im in the fith grade and go to new london acdemy.
I am doing the okapi for a project in class, I've learned stuff about it its sooooo cool. My mother say we can go see them in Africa one day!!!They rock!!!

Great Okapi pictures, any chance you have any more?
Lee Bennett (ATPM Staff) · January 16, 2007 - 13:43 EST#47
Will - well, yes, sort of. I took three, but this is the only one I felt was suitable to share. Of the other two, one's got my cousin's daughter prominent in the photo, and the other, the animal is in a deep shadow and its front legs were spread apart so it could put its head down and drink. Kind of ugly.
Ilove okapis because I can study more and more. I saw one at the zoo and thay look so cuite and Ilove to study okapis pleas save okapis if you don't I will be so sad and if you do I will be so happy so if you do you are good to me and okapis and me.Ilove okapis so so so so much I care about okapis a lot.
Hi, I think Okapis are really cool! When I first told my friends about it they didn't know what the hell it was about. In my grade 4 class I'm doing my project on the okapi. I found out it lives close to Zaire. I really want to see one. My friend Jay went to Florida and he saw one. He has a picture and he said he would make another one and give it to me. So I really want to see one. I have pictures of okapis on my walls in my room. So i gotta go. Thanks for the info
