This Month’s CD Recommendation

Deadicated,” by Various Artists. My short review: simply the best tribute album ever. Buy it! The details: more of a travelling road show than a serious studio band, it has always been difficult to get people to take The Grateful Dead’s music seriously. This album changes that misconception. With a “who’s who” lineup that reads like the bill at a early 90’s Grammy Awards Show, “Deadicated” is about the music, and succeeds like no other tribute album ever has.

Artists include Los Lobos, Bruce Hornsby, Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, Dwight Yoakam, Warren Zevon, The Cowboy Junkies, The Indigo Girls, Midnight Oil, Burning Spear, Jane’s Addiction, and Dr. John. The highlight of the album is Lyle Lovett doing the best version of “Friend Of The Devil” ever recorded. Whether you’re a Deadhead or not, the music on the CD will turn you into a fan.

Parting Pointer

The Parting Pointer is ATPM’s “Tips and Tricks” section. If you have a pointer that you would like to share with other readers to make their Mac experience easier or more enjoyable, please send it to me at egoss@atpm.com. This month’s “Parting Pointer”:

How to Achieve the Best Sounding Audio CDs
To ensure your recorded audio CDs sound their best, record only at 2X speed regardless of your burner’s top speed rating. It is generally agreed that 2X speed produces the best sounding audio CDs with the fewest problems. Happy listening!
